How to Dial In the Revv G3 Pedal

Getting the right distortion tone requires more than just maxing out the gain. The Revv G3 brings our signature high-gain sound directly to your pedalboard. This guide provides exactly how we set up the G3 in the shop. Use these starting points to cut through the stage volume and find your sound.

Understanding the G3 Controls

The G3 gives you precise control over your tone through a standard EQ section and our signature Aggression switch.

  • Knobs: Treble, Middle, Bass, Gain, and Level.

  • Aggression Switch:

    • Red Position (Down): Delivers the highest level of gain, heavy compression, extra bite, and full metal saturation for aggressive riffing and heavy chunk.

    • Blue Position (Up): Offers a balanced, medium-gain sound with added clarity, sustain, and smooth low-end response that works well for rhythm or articulate lead lines.

    • Off Position (Middle): Provides the lowest amount of gain and a warmer, more open, or vintage-style tone with natural dynamics.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where should I place the G3 in my signal chain? Place the G3 early in your signal chain, right after your tuner and any compressors or pitch shifters. As a primary distortion source, it should sit before modulation and time-based effects (like chorus, delay, and reverb). For the best tonal foundation, run the pedal directly into the front of a clean amp so the G3 can establish your core high-gain sound without fighting the amplifier's natural breakup.

Does the G3 work well with active pickups? Yes, the G3 works exceptionally well with active pickups. Active pickups send a much hotter signal to your board, which can cause lesser pedals to "choke," compress prematurely, or lose clarity. The G3 is designed with plenty of internal headroom to easily handle this high-output push, preserving the pedal’s fast tracking and tight low-end response even when hit with a massive signal.
