Title

Revv Amplification was founded in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 2014 by two friends inspired by great guitar tone. What started as a prototype in a basement quickly turned into a real business when we showed local musicians who kept saying "Woah! This rules! You have to make me one!" While the initial inspiration was creating a new 'best-of-all-worlds' high gain sound we couldn't get out of off-the-shelf amps, we quickly expanded into a full lineup of pedals, amps with Two notes technology for great direct tones without a cabinet, & unique signature gear inspired by the incredible artists & engineers we collect feedback from. The opportunity to be a part of your sound is not lost on us, & we're thankful that you consider Revv for your guitar rig. We're proud to be a small business building quality guitar gear in Canada. If we wouldn't play it - we don't make it.

Dan's love of heavy metal & career in electrical engineering dovetailed nicely when he began repairing & modifying amps for local Winnipeg guitarists. Soon he began work on his own design to create a new high gain tone he couldn't find in other amps on the market: the first Generator prototype was born.

 

Everything Revv makes first had Dan's eyes & ears on it for months or years to make sure your gear will always perform its best. That same passion for developing a fresh high gain tone has translated perfectly into working closely with signature artists to cultivate the sound in their head & continually refining the design of every piece of Revv gear.

When Derek got a call that "a new amp builder in town needs a faceplate made" he didn't realize he was about to walk into Dan's basement & play the best high gain sound he's ever heard. Shortly after, Revv Amplification was founded & there were a lot more projects to undertake than just making a faceplate. 

 

Derek's experience in manufacturing & stage rigging helped Revv get off to the right start, but his understanding of the needs of working guitarists as a lifelong musician himself ensured Revv gear solves the problems modern guitarists face & helped foster the sense of musical community Revv relies on for artist feedback, special events, & word-of-mouth referrals.

As Revv grew, Derek gave his brother Scott a call to help out with building cabinets, but Scott's role quickly grew from there. As a natural tinkerer and one of Revv's earliest team members, Scott has done everything from building amps to wiring the demo racks for our shows.

 

Scott's positive nature & background as a pastor have made him a staple of our NAMM shows for both organizing our crew & plenty of good hangs at the booth. If you've tried a Revv at an event, chances are Scott's the one that plugged you in with a big smile behind that even bigger beard.

Title

Generator amplifiers are where Revv amps started. We had a goal of developing unique & highly-usable high gain tones not already available elsewhere or based on any specific amps. Fast-forward to our current lineup & the result is 4 highly malleable channels that help you find your personal sound but with a consistent unique clarity & voicing we like to refer to as 'Canadian tone.' Generator amps include a wide variety of voicing switches to fine-tune to your needs, including 3 Aggression voices as well as Bright, Cut, & Fat voicings for the high gain channels.

Blue: A totally clean channel with rich midrange that can be set bright & chimey or fat & warm. The Generator clean channel also features our Wide switch - a unique voicing that adds push & depth to your clean tone. Many high gain amps treat the clean channel as an afterthought - not Revv!

 

Green: An incredibly versatile & touch-sensitive crunch channel that excels at everything from edge-of-breakup cleans to rippin' classic stack tones. Extensive R&D went into the 3 drive voicings with help from our Nashville-based artists to make this a standout facet of the Revv sound.

Purple: When you think Revv, the Purple channel is the sound you're imagining. Deep 3-dimensional clarity & detail under heavy gain with great string separation & tightness even when tuning extremely low. This is our signature mix-ready sound heard on iconic modern rock & metal records. 

 

Red: If the Purple channel is a scalpel - the Red channel is a sledgehammer. This is where 'liquid distortion' & 'endless sustain' are found perfect for soaring leads or huge wall-of-sound rhythm guitars. At lower gain settings, you'll find an organic & chewy classic overdrive tone well-suited to any musical application.

The Dynamis series is Revv's foray into vintage-inspired & mid-gain tones that aren't appropriate for the Generator series. While Dynamis amps began as modified 'not-metal' versions of Generator amps when Nashville session players fell in love with our mix-ready clarity 10 years ago, the Dynamis lineup has since become a huge passion project for us. Iterating on organic tones that respond like your favorite classic amp but still have our own flavor is hugely fulfilling, which is proudly on display in our new flagship Dynamis amplifier, the D40.

Dynamis clean channels are designed to gain up more than the Generator (if you want them to) with musical harmonics, & can be set scooped & fat or bright & chimey - it's up to you! The Drive channels have a simplified control layout with a powerful Boost switch for more push under the fingers & creamy midrange. They're also both tuned to work well with your favorite pedals.

 

Revv is also proud to offer an array of signature gear that focuses on the artists' specific needs to solve common problems guitarists face & stretch out even further beyond the Generator & Dynamis lineups. When you work with musicians as diverse as Joey Landreth & Glenn Fricker - you get to create some pretty unique amps & pedals!

Since day 1, genuinely getting to know our customers has been invaluable to us. Many of the amps & pedals we offer today are the direct result of feedback from the broader Revv Community. That means producers, players, & songwriters from bedrooms to festival stages around the world. Through our community group, Gear & Beer events & livestreams, shows like NAMM, & even just saying hi on social media, we hope to bring talented & positive musicians of all skill levels & walks of life together, because that's what music is all about.
