Matt Walst
Three Days Grace / My Darkest Days
From the small town of Norwood Ontario. Matt Walst started playing guitar at the age of 12. Guitar became a passion for him and he began to write his own music. His older brother Brad Walst was in the band Three Days Grace, which gave Matt the opportunity to show producer Gavin Brown some of those riffs he had been writing. At the age of 19 Matt co-wrote two songs on Three Days Grace’s 1st album.
“After I got my first check from royalties from the Thee Days Grace record, I decided I was going to really focus on being a professional musician”. Matt explained.
Matt went on to form the band My Darkest Days. With the debut song Pornstar Dancing hitting number 1 on the active rock charts. The band toured extensively. In 2012, singer Adam Gontier of Three Days Grace departed the band. Matt had the opportunity to join his brothers band and step up to plate to fill in for an upcoming tour. Matt ended up joining the band Three Days Grace. 10 years later Matt Walst has 3 albums and 7 number one active rock songs! He continues to write and tour with the band Three Days Grace and the future is looking very exciting!
